Where beginners go wrong
Skipping grits. Going straight from coarse to fine sandpaper leaves deep scratches that the polish will highlight instead of hide. Work 120, then 220, and do not rush the last pass.
Forcing the saw. Pressure bends the blade and the cut drifts off the pencil line. Let the teeth cut at their own pace.
